This project was inspired by an essay by the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, in which he attempts to characterise the existentially exhausted figures in Beckett’s TV productions. The setting is of almost experimental clarity. Two dancers strive on elliptical paths from the periphery of the stage to the centre, surrounded by the instruments of two percussionists and driven by their rhythms to a good 40-minute crescendo of sound and movement. The performers tire in the steadily increasing action, the sound space is exhausted under the electronically condensed spatial sound.
